Ok so one of the nicknames we have given my daughter is "Tubs". I have said this nickname in front of a few people and they find it offensive. They tell me I shouldn't call her that. But why not? All the children in my family over the years have all been abnormally skinny. I prayed and prayed for a chubby baby. I want those thick little legs, the double chin, the round belly, and the endless amount of rolls all over his or her body and with Lily I got it.
She is tall for her age and average in size, but she is the cutest little thing and I love that she is "chubby". I wished for this baby and I am so glad I got her. I should be able to give her any nickname I want. And while to other people the nickname may sound offensive or cruel and they may think that it will effect her negatively while growing up, I don't feel that way at all. We went through a lot with her medically while I was pregnant and for a short time after, and to see her so "plump" and healthy is a miracle. There were a few times we could have lost her and we didn't. She is here and growing like crazy and it is a miracle she is so healthy and doing as well as she is.
So to all of you who find it offensive that I call her Tubs, I am sorry but you can just deal with it! We went through a lot with this baby and we will call her whatever we want because she is alive and we have the right to do so! If she finds it offensive when she gets older than we will stop. But I will make sure to tell her that I am not making fun of her or her weight, that I am happy she is the size she is and that I love every roll on her cute little body. I am thankful everyday for my sweet little Tubs and would not change a thing about her!
