My favorite brother is back in town after being on the road driving a truck for a month. He is my favorite brother today because he brought me Hardees. That's the way to my heart!!!

Pass the salt please

I love salt. Like love love salt. I put it on basically everything. I often crave foods just for the salt (I drink pickle juice), I have been like this ever since I was little. I put salt on my food before I even taste it, some people say that's rude but I know that the food never has enough salt so why even try it? If there is no salt to me it just tastes bland. I feel the same about salt as some people feel about their seasonings I have to have it.

I realize there are salt deficiencies and I probably have that but it is not something I have really looked into or mentioned to my doctors. And before you go saying my cholesterol is high or my blood pressure must be through the roof, its not. I go to the doctor a lot and have tons of labs done and was recently even told by my doctor that I could use more salt. How I could possibly need more salt than what I already take in? Who knows but I was not about to argue with her on that!

I have noticed that even my kids like salty things. There are some foods that I make them that they don't really care for until salt is on it. Tyler loves all the salty foods more than the sweet ones, it is just something I think he got from me. Of course I really try not to put salt on their food because Mike had high blood pressure as a kid and I don't want to risk my kids having that so if I put any it is a dash of salt. I don't want to chance my kids being unhealthy but I just happen to notice what they like.

Maybe one day I will remember to ask my doctor and we can check out if I have some type of salt deficiency but until then I will happily cover my food with salt! :)

Look mom! I can stir!

When we were little we went to my grammas while our parents worked. I remember some of the things she used to serve us during the day. One of those things was carrot salad. I remember how delicious it was and that she used to serve it to us in tiny blue bowls.

I recently started thinking about it because we are trying to get the kids to eat new things, well Lils eats everything it's Tyler who needs to try new stuff so this was one of the things that came to my mind. I found a recipe similar to the one my gramma used to make online because she couldn't remember all the ingredients I tweeked it a little to accomadate what she could remember and this was the result. It didn't even last in my house 24 hours before it was gone! Tyler has yet to eat it but I am going to keep trying.

This snack only consits of stirring in ingredients so how could I mess that up? It's about the only thing I do well...
