Did anybody see this short article? The people who found the baby didn't call the cops! They said instead they called the mother because they felt bad for her! Now I am guilty of going inside a place and leaving my kids in the car, for a second! I have parked my car at the curb, run in grab my to go order that I placed previously and run out the door. I have never however gone inside a store to shop and left my kid/s in the car because they were sleeping.
I get not wanting to drag your kid out of the car seat for a second to run and grab something, its a pain in the ass! Especially if they are sleeping! But if you have to shop, or wait in line, or do anything more than walk in and out then that's just not acceptable. And I can say this because I have two kids, one of which who screamed non stop for at least the first 6 months of her life, and the other who has a habit of falling asleep in the car the second you buckle him in.
I have been tempted more than one time to leave my kids in the car while I shop or even leave them home while I go out but I don't. Because I'm not an idiot! It is not safe for them! Somebody could have crashed into her car in the parking lot, its happened plenty of times to people. If her baby fell asleep in the car she should have waited for it to wake up or just took it inside with her those are the only two safe answers.
I know the stress can be a lot sometimes but if you are going to put your child at risk like that then you should probably talk to somebody or get help. Having small episodes sometimes is expected. Screwing up is expected a lot, but things like this should not be happening. What would she have done if it was the summer and burning hot? Let her baby sit in the car to die? Somebody should have called the cops on this woman, what happens when she does it again and something happens to that baby? Bet they will wish they had called the cops then.
